Stop Motion Films
Humble Beginnings!
This is one of my very first videos. It shows how I learned the basics of animation; making something move, using my Lego blocks.
My Simple Set-up
Here you can see my simple set-up, as I started my journey into stop-motion. Marooned in Palm Springs, boredom led to finding my new love.
Telling a Story!
After doing some basic animations I was itching to tell a story. So I started adding characters (my Lego gang from Flintstones for this one), and gave them wild antics to engage in. It is absolutely addictive to see something in my mind’s eye, and then be able to make it happen on screen by directing inanimate objects into coming to life!
Developing Characters!
Continuing to develop my skills by creating characters, and defining their personality by giving them actions to do.
Introduction to Claymation!
A lot of classic stop motion is done with clay figures. I decided to try my hand at it. Here is my first foray into claymation.
Happy Birthday!
A birthday was the perfect excuse to combine all I learnt and create an action extravaganza!
Freedom party!
Covid lock down finally ended and I was able to escape from Palm Spring (I adore my grand parents but I am sure they were as happy to see us leave and give them some peace!). Lego figures are pretty limited in their movements. Back in Santa Monica I had access to my action figures and I got to work learning how to animate them. How better than to have a freedom disco party!
Stop Motion Table Top Studio!
Seeing my enthusiasm for stop motion, my Mom and my Uncle Jasper helped me build a table top stop motion studio in our garage, complete with lights and backgrounds. I also graduated beyond my iPad and started using a Canon camera and Dragonframe software. Having these tools really upped my game, and added to the fun I was having!
Corey Motion Logo!
With a proper studio (well, as proper as it gets in a crowded garage!) it was time to construct a moving logo sequence. Now I get to build sets and scavenge props from around the house!
Gladiator Movie!
Trying my hand at cool lighting, and mixing claymation with action figures.
